On Saturday 18th December, Newry 2s made the journey to Bangor to play Bangor 3’s.
Full of confidence following back-to-back wins, Newry were keen to build on their impressive league form to date.
Bangor started well and soon put the new look Olympic defence under pressure. They took the lead with a well struck shot giving Richard Henning in goal no chance to make a stop. Both sides had their chances in the first two quarters, but Newry went into half time one nil down.
Newry came out of the blocks flying for the 3rd quarter and were soon level when Josh Porter linked up with Keith McWilliams and Porter deflected home. Within two minutes Newry had taken the lead when McWilliams finished well by firing home from a penalty corner.
Bangor just couldn't cope with Newry’s sharp passing and movement. The home side found themselves further behind when Josh Porter nutmegged the keeper to bag his second of the day.
Captain Simon McCafferty made sure of all three points when he sent a rocket of a flick into the side netting giving the keeper no chance.
Bangor did pull a goal back with the last touch of the game, but it made no difference as Newry deservedly left with a 2-4 win and all 3 points.
