Brian turns out for the 'Rest of the World' in Italy

Club Chairman Brian Lockhart makes his Masters Over 55s debut

Congratulations go to Club Chairman Brian Lockhart, who played in his first Masters tournament in Bologna, Italy.

Brian played for the Rest of Europe Over 55's team in four matches against Germany, France, England and Ireland, over the weekend of 7th & 8th May 2022.

Brian told us, "It was a great weekend, although I'm still recovering! The Rest of Europe team was made up of players from Ireland and Italy. Unfortunately we didn't win any of the matches, but the games were played to a very high standard as the majority of players all played Senior hockey back in the day."

"It's the first competitive matches for me in about 14 years. I'm only learning to walk again after the efforts! Needless to say, I couldn't stop my competitive nature kicking in!" he laughed.

Brian was able to catch up with friends old and new when he was in Bologna, including former Newry player Neil Cunningham, and fit in some sight seeing with his team mates.

He's also looking forward to the Home Internationals which will be held in Wales at the end of June.
