End of Season Presentation Dinner 2022-23

A great night was had by all at the annual presentation dinner in the clubhouse on Saturday 13th May 2023 when the end of season awards were presented.

Following a delicious meal, the following awards were handed out by the Club President, Norman Baird.


  • The Ivan Toombs Memorial salver for the Club Member of the Year was presented for the second year in a row to Club Chairman Brian Lockhart. The award recognised the fantastic ongoing contribution Brian has made to the club throughout the season especially coaching the Ladies Senior team and promoting hockey with schools from within the Newry area.


  • The Norman Hanna Memorial trophy for Outstanding Achievement was awarded to Brianna Gregg. After attending a trial in Belfast in October 2022, Brianna was selected for the Ulster Hockey Girls U15 Talent Development Programme. On completing the 12 week intensive programme Brianna was subsequently selected for the Ulster Hockey U16 squad assessment in April. Brianna will also be travelling as part of the Ulster Hockey U15s squad on Saturday 20 May 2023 to play against the other provinces in a festival of hockey at Three Rock Rovers in Dublin over the weekend.


  • The Joe Ferris Memorial salver for the Club Team Of The Year was won by the Girls U15's who were undefeated throughout the season and ended up equal top of their section in the Ulster Hockey U15's Development League with Lisnagarvey, losing out only by goal difference.


The Player of the Year trophies were awarded as follows:

  • Marshall McConnell shield for Men's Young Player of the Year – Noah Lutton
  • Women's Young Player of the Year – Katie McCullough
  • Women's 1st XI Player of the Year – Kathryn Baird
  • Mens 1st XI Player of the Year – Jeremy Greer
  • Mens 2nd XI Player of the Year – Scott Blakley
  • Coaches award for Player of the Year – Josh Porter


  • The Club Top Goalscorer was won by Simon McCafferty with 9 goals for the 2nd XI during the season.
  • A special award for the Miss of the Season was presented jointly to Jordan Whiteside and Josh Porter.


The awards ceremony concluded with the presentation of the President's Salver to Norman Baird.
