On Sunday the 24th April 2022, the Newry Olympic Hockey Club Golf Society had their first outing of the golfing season at Kilkeel Golf Club. Thirty-two members came along to enjoy what would be a superb day of golfing on a tough, windy Kilkeel course.
Newly appointed Golf Society captain Kenny Cowan, tee'd of first to officially start the season. We hope that the season goes much better than Kenny’s tee shot, which ended up in the trees on the 1st hole!!
Although in superb condition, it was a very tough, dry and bouncy course that presented a challenge for everyone.
At the finish it was Davy Irwin and Colin Brown (Bruno) who tied for the lead with 39 points.
The NOHC Golf Society would like to thank Kilkeel Golf Club for providing use of their excellent facilities. The course, food and welcome from the club was first class.
The society committee would also like to thank everyone who came along and made the day so enjoyable.
Please keep note of our following three outings planned for the year:
Anyone who is interested in the Moyvalley trip, please contact the golf committee to book your seat on the bus, as we plan to confirm the bus in the coming days and need accurate numbers.
Anyone who hasn’t yet taken part in the Society and would like to join, please feel free to contact Ian McNeill, Kenny Cowan, Paul McCullough or Brian Lockhart; or
email-us directly. You'll be made very welcome!
