Golf Society opens 2023 in Loughgall & Warrenpoint

Golf Society gets going in Loughgall & Warrenpoint

After having the first planned outing rained off in Armagh in April, the club golf society got started in May with a great day at Loughgall and followed this up with a second fantastic trip to Warrenpoint at the start of July.


Loughgall - Sunday 21st May

Eleven hardy members set off for Loughgall on Sunday 21st May to get the season underway.


After a tough competition....

  • 1st place was claimed by Michael McCullough with 43 points
  • 2nd place went to Peter Graham on a countback with 39 points


Other winners on the day were:

  • Longest Drive by Paul McCullough
  • Nearest to the Pin went to Robbie Taylor


Thanks to club chairman Brian Lockhart for supplying superb bacon baps on the 18th, which were just what the doctor ordered!


Warrenpoint - Sunday 2nd July

On Sunday 2nd July, the golf society had its' second outing of the year, heading off to the coast at Warrenpoint.

Nineteen members showed up for a good afternoon of golfing on a tough Warrenpoint Golf Course.


  • The winner on the day was Brian McLeod with a stunning 43 points, this totally destroyed the rest of the field winning by a margin of 7 points.
  • In 2nd place was Colin (Bruno) Brown with 36 points
  • And in 3rd place was Ryan McIlroy also with 36 points


Other winners were....

  • Longest drive by Richard Nummy
  • Closest to the Pin once again went to Robbie Taylor, for the second competition in a row


This was a very enjoyable day, finished off with a BBQ and a few sociable drinks back in the Hockey Club where the prize giving took place.


The committee again would like to thank everyone who turned up to make this another great day's entertainment.


The schedule for the remaining outings this season has now been confirmed as follows....

  • Annual Captain's Day at Dundalk Golf Club on Saturday 5th August, details to follow in the coming week
  • The final outing of the season will be at Bellewstown in Co Meath on Sunday 17th September
