Golfers play Mannan Castle

On Saturday 4^th September, Newry Olympic Hockey Club golf society had their second outing of the season at Mannan Castle Golf Club in Carrickmacross.

Twenty-five eager golfers made the trip for a 2.30pm tee off.

On the day, Robbie Taylor playing off an 8 handicap, produced some stunning golf to take the 1st prize with 40 points. This was exceptional scoring on a tough Mannan Castle golf course. This exceptional score will be reflected with an exceptional handicap alteration for the next golf outing!

In 2nd place was Elaine McCullough with a superb 39 points. The back 9 holes were outstanding, with Elaine hitting 24 points on her way home.

In 3rd place was Jeff McNeill with 37 points.

Closest to the pin on the 12^th hole, once again went to Richard Nummy.

Longest Drive on the 14^th hole went to Ian McNeill.

£35 was raised for charity from the “Dreaded Snake”, thanks to all holders of the snakes who kindly donated. 

The golf was followed by a BBQ and prize giving back at the hockey club and was superbly attended by all golfers. The night was thoroughly enjoyable, the Sunday morning not so enjoyable!

On behalf of the NOHC Golf Society Committee, we would really like to thank everyone who attended. The feedback from all players has been really encouraging. We're building on this fantastic start to the Golf Society with more events being planned for the near future.

Next Outing:

The next outing is now booked at the Down Royal Golf Course at the Maze for Sunday 31st October, teeing off @ 10am.  The cost is £30 including a single course carvery lunch.
