Newry Olympic Mens 1s hosted Mossley on Saturday 4th March in a bottom of the table clash. Newry had won away to Mossley in the first game of the season, but had not seen much success since.
The visitors, as expected, started brightly and forced a few opportunities early on, but Richard McGivern in nets kept them at bay. David Andrews came within inches of putting Newry in the lead when Jeremy Greer found him free in the circle from the byline, but his shot came off the outside of the post.
Mossley caught Newry on the counter and made them pay as they went one up after a swift passing move down the centre of the pitch.
They doubled their lead early in the second half and it looked like they would pull away. However Olympic stepped up a gear and began to dominate the game and creating chances at will.
From a short corner, Mossley did not clear fully and Jeremy Greer was on hand to slot home as the ball was played back into the circle. Only minutes later it was 2-2 with Keith McWilliams scoring a reverse on his long awaited return.
The homeside kept pushing as they went all out for the third and with eight minutes remaining, captain Colin Henning got on the score sheet capitalising on a mix up in the Mossley defence.
Newry easily saw out the rest of the game to come away with all three points.
