Ulster Hockey U15 Girls Development League

History was made with Newry Olympic girls getting a win in their first Ulster Hockey U15 Girls Development League match on Friday 19th November.

Playing under the floodlights on the Belfast Road, the game started with Dromore on the front foot. The Newry defence stood firm however and were able to withstand the early pressure. Abby Moffet in nets made a number of great clearances to keep Olympic in the game.

The second quarter was all Newry and after winning their third penalty corner, Hannah Malcomson slotted home from a rebound to give Newry a well deserved lead. The Olympic girls continued to press and went close on another couple of occasions. This time it was Rose Clarke and Maisie Ellison being denied with the Dromore keeper making some excellent saves.

The second half was more even with both sides having a share of possession. Chances were rare however as the defences worked hard to cancel out the opposition's attacks.

The Olympic girls managed to hang on and celebrate a win in the first game of their Ulster Hockey Development League campaign.
