Newry Olympic U15s 3-0 Armagh U15s

20 March 2023

Ulster Hockey U15 Girls Development League

Newry girls big win against Armagh despite tough weather conditions

The match started in very wet and windy conditions, however both teams managed to battle the elements to produce a very exciting game.

The first quarter saw both teams cancel each other out with strong defensive work from both sides.

In the second quarter the Olympic girls stepped up the intensity. Great work once again from Brianna Gregg and Rachel Harshaw created the first goal of the game for Rachel.

It was then the turn of Maisie Ellison and Shruti Suresh to create some opportunities, but Armagh defended well to stop the home side going further ahead.

However after forcing a few penalty corners, it was Brianna who intercepted an Armagh pass and dribbled past two defenders to smash a shot from the edge of the circle to make it 2-0.

The third quarter was again a tight affair as Armagh pushed forward to get a goal back, however superb work by the Newry defence kept their clean sheet intact.

The third goal came in the fourth quarter when Rachel followed up a rebound to slot the ball past the Armagh keeper to get her second of the game.

Special mention to all the supporters who came out in miserable conditions to cheer on the girls once again.

Also a special thanks to Armagh for a great match and for travelling to Newry.
