Newry Olympic 2s travelled to the Dub in Belfast on Saturday to play Queens 2s. This was always going to be a stern test for the Olympic as the home side are currently top of the league.
Newry started the game strongly and carved out a couple of half chances for forwards McCafferty and Hogg, however Queens went one up through a short corner in the second quarter.
Newry continued to create chances and got themselves level with a trademark strike from Davey Hogg just before half time.
Newry came out strongly in the second half, but as they continued to press forward in search of a goal, they were starting to leave gaps at the back leading to Queens taking the lead from another short corner.
Queens then gave themselves a two goal cushion when they were awarded a penalty stroke which gave Richard Henning no chance in the Newry nets.
Queens sealed a comprehensive win with a well worked counter attack, leading to another short corner that was confidently dispatched to ensure a deserved 4-1 win.
Newry hope to get back to winning ways away to Instonians in Belfast on Saturday.
