The 2023-24 season gets underway this weekend with our new Ladies 2nd XI making their debut on Friday evening at 7.30pm on 15 September against Instonians 3s in Belfast.
Building on the success of the club's youth policy over the last few years and attracting new players to the ladies squad, the club has entered a Ladies 2nd XI in Ulster Hockey Leagues this year. The team will be playing in Junior League 9a and in the Junior League 9 Cup. Good luck girls for the season, from everyone in the club!
The Ladies 1s are away to Club KV 1s in Senior League 3 at 4.15pm. Club KV is a relatively new hockey club, formed by the amalgamation of two of the oldest ladies clubs in Ireland, Knock Ladies HC and Victorians Ladies HC.
The Mens 1s return to Intermediate hockey following their relegation from the Premier League last year. The season starts with their first group match in the Linden Cup against CIYMS 1s in Belfast. Push back is at 2.30pm. Playing in the Intermediate League this year will help the 1s rebuild the squad for hopefully a quick return to the Premier League. There are a number of talented younger players now ready to break through from the youth hockey ranks. It will be great to see the senior mens teams also get the benefit from the club's youth strategy over the years and build a stronger balance between youth and experience on the pitch.
The Mens 2s are the only team at home during the weekend. They play their first game of the season in the Junior 3 League Cup against Raphoe 2s. The Donegal team will be tough opposition having been relegated from Junior League 2 last time out. Pushback for the 2s is at 1pm. Come along and support the team!
