Ladies 2s share the points with CI 6s in final match of the season

On Friday 28th March, Newry Olympic Ladies played CI 6s at Strathern School pitches, Belfast in the final match of the season.

Newry won the pass back and started strong driving down the right with Diane McMinn-Johnston slipping the ball through to Ali Benson on the right wing. Ali was quick to crash the ball into the circle finding captain, Laverne Inns who slapped the ball into the net making it one nil.

CI were quick to retaliate, putting the pressure on visitor's defence and after 20 minutes, equalised.

At the start of the second half, Newry were first to be awarded a corner and Jodie Freeman smashed the ball into the CI backboard putting Olympic back into the lead. However the home side kept on fighting for possession and eventually equalised once again.

At the final whistle Newry and CI had scored two each. Player of the match went to Jodie Freeman, with a shout out to Jenna McWilliams for her excellent skills on the pitch.

Newry Olympic Ladies 2s would like to thank Joanne McKelvey, Banbridge for sponsoring the match and practice balls for this game.

Newry Olympic Ladies will continue to practice on Wednesdays 7 to 9pm and welcome any new players. The squad look forward to participating in summer tournaments around NI.
