As a warm-up for their introduction to the Ulster Hockey U15 Girls Development League in a few weeks, Newry played a talented Armagh side, under the floodlights on the Belfast Road ground.
Armagh started the game brightest, but the Newry girls defended well resulting in no scores in the first quarter.
The Armagh team continued to press forward and managed to take a 2-0 lead in the second quarter after some quality play from the forwards.
Armagh scored a third at the start of the third quarter, but Newry re-grouped and managed to pull a goal back with their second penalty corner of the game, through a well struck shot from Rachel Harshaw.
The game was very evenly contested with the Olympic defence working really well together.
It was the fourth quarter when Armagh managed to score their fourth and win the game 4-1.
Special thanks to Jonny Ross for organising and bringing the Armagh girls to Newry for the match.
