Increased turnout at Youth Hockey

More players turning out at Saturday morning youth hockey!

Our youth hockey has got off to a great start for the new season. Attendance was well up in September from the same time last year.

Youth Liaison Officer and Senior Youth Coach Colin Henning, said it was fantastic to see so many new faces appearing on a Saturday morning and joining in with the regulars from last season. Numbers are also up at the mid-week sessions.

Colin said, "The main aim is to ensure everyone turning up has fun, as well as learning the basics of hockey. All the kids are having a great time and are really picking things up quickly."

"We have great support from a number of the senior players within the club helping out with all the different age groups, but we can always do with more."

Volunteers wanted

Colin highlighted, "Following on from the successes of last year, we plan to enter boys and girls teams in all the Ulster Hockey competitions this season and also run a number of our own local blitzes during the year. If any parent, senior player or former member would be able to offer a few hours a month to help out I'd love to hear from you. You don't have to be an experienced hockey player to help organise the activities with the groups. Just email me for more information."
