On Sunday 25th September, Newry Olympic Hockey Club Golf Society made it’s final outing of the year to Tandragee Golf Club.
Twenty-one eager golfers turned up for what would be a brilliant day’s golfing on a superb mature local parkland course.
With the windy weather on the day making conditions tricky, it was Jeff McNeill who came out on top with what would be an untouchable 39 points. Jeff played very steady golf over the 18 holes, limiting mistakes and capitalising on some extremely lucky breaks! Jeff’s measured approach proved to be enough to claim 1st prize.
In 2nd place was Andrew Marks with 38 points, Andrew had a remarkable 27 points on the back nine, which ran Jeff very close to 1st place. If Andrew happened to have a better start, he certainly would have been unbeatable with that back nine scoring.
In 3rd Place was the favourite to win on his home track, Paul McCullough with 38 points. Paul, in a rich vein of form leading into this outing, would have fancied winning on home soil, but it wasn't to be!
Other winners on the day were:
