Newry Olympic 1s hosted Queens in their first game of the season with a depleted squad, many of the seconds stepping up to the plate and putting in a gutsy performance against a well drilled Queens side.
The visitors had long spells of possession as Newry were happy to let them have the ball at the back, and giving away very few chances.
However Queens did take the lead in the second quarter with a neat front post finish and quickly made it two with a fantastic deflected finish which left the Newry keeper with no chance. Newry forced a number of shorts but were unable to take advantage of the chances before Queens got their third.
In the second half and after a change of formation, Newry were seeing more of the ball and were creating more chances, but again they were unable to punish the visitors.
With only a few minutes left Queens got their fourth of the game to round off a well deserved win.
