Laverne joins Alliance International Hockey Club for Veterans Tournament

10 March 2025

Well done to our Ladies 2s Captain Laverne Inns, who's off to Tilburg in the Netherlands from the 25th - 27th April 2025 to play in an International Hockey Tournament

Laverne breaks new boundaries!

Always looking to expand her hockey boundaries and try something new, Ladies 2s Captain Laverne Inns, signed for the Alliance International Hockey Club last year, with the aim to participate in World Hockey Veteran tournaments and Masters festivals, playing with teammates from all over the world.

After submitting her hockey CV, which includes eighteen years of Newry Olympic Ladies Hockey Club experience as a 1s and 2s player and her selection for Ulster Masters over the past three years, Laverne's endeavour has been rewarded by being selected to take part in the Tilburg International Super Veterans Tournament in the Netherlands, playing for the Alliance Hockey Club's Women's O55 team.

Laverne is the only Irish representative on the Alliance team, her teammates are from Canada, England, the Netherlands and Gibraltar.

Good luck for the tournament Laverne, we look forward to hearing all about it when you return!

Alliance International Hockey Club

Alliance International is a true melting pot of talent and nationalities, bringing together players from all over the world for the love of hockey. We’re like the Barbarians of world rugby—an elite group of players from diverse backgrounds, uniting on the field to take on national teams with skill, passion, and spirit.

For over 20 years, our club has offered a level of hockey that goes beyond the ordinary, catering to those who have played at a high club level and seek to continue honing their skills. We embody the ‘Spirit of the Masters’— upholding the values of sportsmanship and camaraderie on the field and fostering rich, inclusive friendships off the field.

Alliance International Hockey Club was born from a groundbreaking idea at the 2002 Grand Masters World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. When Johan Herbert couldn’t gather enough Belgian players, he united hockey enthusiasts from multiple nations, creating a team that transcended borders. This spirit of collaboration led to the founding of Alliance IHC, the first and only non-national voting member of World Masters Hockey (WMH).

The club represents the very essence of Masters’ hockey, offering a welcoming environment for players 35 and over, who share a passion for the game. With more than two decades of history, we continue to inspire and uphold the WMH mission: fostering lifelong participation and enjoyment in hockey for all.
