Newry Olympic 2's entertained Cookstown 4's in round 2 of the Junior Shield on Saturday 3 December.
It was a cagey start with a lot of the game taking place in the midfield, however Newry took the lead when McCafferty deflected home a McCullough cross.
Cookstown found stand-in keeper Marks in excellent form when tested, with the Newry defence of McCullough, Gregg, Graham and John Lawson standing strong.
Joel Maxwell was excellent on his debut for the club, looking comfortable in both midfield and defence.
Olympic managed to seal a place In the next round when McCafferty got his second of the day when he found himself one on one with the keeper and was able to slot the ball home.
