On Saturday 8 March 2025, Newry Olympic Ladies 2s faced Bangor Ladies 5s at home at Markethill High School, in Junior League 11.
Bangor won the toss and chose sides with Newry taking the first pass back. The home side led the attack from the start and within the first five minutes won a corner. Injector Emma McCullough, found Captain Laverne Inns at the top of the "D" and with a straight shot at goal secured a one nil lead for Newry. Bangor retaliated and also secured a corner half way through the first quarter but due to the defensive skills of Jodie Freeman and Chrissie McAuley, Bangor were unable to penetrate the Olympic goal.
The second quarter continued much the same as the first, with Newry winning another corner thanks to the quick thinking of Caragh McGaffin who found a Bangor foot in the circle. This time Diane McMinn-Johnston was slipped the ball and scored the second for the home side by sweeping the ball into the Bangor goal.
The final two quarters saw some beautiful one-two play between Jessica McCullough and Sarah Knight, which in one attack found Diane McMinn-Johnston again at the top of the circle and quick shot resulted in her second and Newry's third goal of the match.
Newry finished the second quarter strongly with Captain Laverne Inns scoring from her second corner.
Final score, Newry 4 Bangor 0.
Newry Olympic Ladies would like to thank Knowledge Fitness Gym and owner Stephen McCusker for match ball sponsorship.
