A depleted Newry Olympic 2’s travelled to Belfast to face NICS 3s on Saturday 18 February.
The home side started well and were confident in possession, but struggled to break down a deep sitting Newry defence. Their dominance did eventually pay off however after a mix up in the Newry defence gifted Service their first goal.
This forced the Olympic team to push forward and chances fell to McMinn, McCafferty and Blakely, but all were wasteful in front of goal.
Newry’s tactic of hitting on the counter was working well in the second half, but they still could not get that equalizing goal.
As they started to fire more men forward in search of the goal, Service hit back with a counter attack of their own with two minutes left, to seal the victory and take all three points.
