Young Umpires Development

15 November 2021

Ulster Hockey has been running Young Umpire and Young Leader courses to try and develop umpiring in all clubs.

This approach will continue as Ulster Hockey now venture into developing the next step for Young Umpires.

This is a great opportunity for personal development for any young person within the club.

Should you choose to just help out on occasions with blitz days and club matches, or if you wish to get on a pathway that enables you to one day umpire at provincial, national or international levels, Ulster Hockey and Newry Olympic would like to assist you and offer you the education and resources.

If you are aged from 15 to 25 and have an interest in holding a whistle, regardless if you have not attended previous courses or if you are a slightly more experienced umpire, please use the link below to complete the Google form to register your interest.

Please note, you do not need to give up playing to umpire!

With the information gathered in the Google form and with assistance from the club, Ulster Hockey will provide you with the opportunities to be mentored and coached at games best suited to your level.

By investing in young umpires now, we hope this will see you giving back to the club and to hockey in general for years to come.

The club will actively support any member interested in being involved in the scheme and will refund any associated fees and expenses.
