Following on from the refurbishment of the pitch, the committee has been concentrating on upgrading the pitch floodlights. It was confirmed in January that approval was given by Sports NI for grant aid for the first phase of the upgrade to the lights.
Club Chairman Brian Lockhart said, "We applied to Sports NI earlier in the season, for funding to support the upgrade of our floodlights under the 'Building Better Sports Facilities' scheme. I'm really pleased to confirm that we have received approval of a grant for £25,000 which will allow us to carry out the first phase of this work in March."
"The plan is to replace all the lights on the middle two stanchions with LED bulbs over the next couple of weeks. A number of the existing bulbs have been out of action for some time, leaving 'dark' spots on the pitch when the lights were switched on. The new bulbs will make a huge difference to the lighting and will be much more efficient than the current ones. They will also help to significantly reduce our running costs."
"Hopefully we will be able to repeat the work on the remaining four stanchions, with further financial support next season."
"The committee really appreciates the support from Sports NI. This funding will make a big difference to all our senior and youth players and other pitch users, for training as well as for matches."
