Junior 9 Cup Round 2

Ladies 2s progress in cup with an exciting win over local rivals Banbridge

On Saturday 11 November, the Ladies 2s faced Banbridge 5s at home in Round 2 of the Junior 9 Cup.

In an exciting and close fought game, it was Caralyn Ferris who scored for Newry in the first quarter. From a slick corner variation the ball was slipped to Caralyn by captain Laverne Inns and she smashed the ball into the back of the net.

The lead was short lived however, as the visitors grabbed an equaliser from open play in the second quarter for the teams to go in level at half time, 1-1.

Despite numerous attempts from both sides to find another goal in the second half, there was no further score and the game went to 'run ins' to decide who would progress to Round 3.

In an exciting exchange it was the home side who came out on top 3-2.  Newry's scorers in the run-ins were Laverne Inns, Rhianna Hale and Caralyn Ferris.

The ladies 2s will now be away to Lisnagarvey 6s in Round 3 on Saturday 2nd December.
