This week is a big one for both the mens senior teams in the club.
The 1s travel to Belfast on Saturday 23rd April to play NI Civil Service at Stormont. They need one point at least, to automatically hold on to their place in the Premier League next season and avoid a relegation playoff with the second placed team in the Intermediate League, Portrush HC.
Raphoe have already been relegated from the Premier league, having gained a total of 3 points in their second phase matches, ironically with a win at Newry in February.
NICS sit on five points, while Newry have six points following great wins in their last two matches against Portadown and North Down.
Although a draw will be enough, captain Jeremy Greer said "The team are determined to come away with all three points. We've shown we're more than capable of getting the win with our recent positive results. We've had some really great performances throughout the season but have been unlucky to lose a lot of games just by the odd goal."
The match with Civil Service has been postponed twice due to Covid and a big crowd is expected to cheer on both sides. Come along and support the firsts, push back is at 2.30pm at Stormont.
The seconds had a fantastic result on Tuesday 19 April with a 2-3 League Cup semi-final win against Instonians 3s in Belfast. Goals from Alex Irwin, Jeremy Greer and captain Simon McCafferty, were enough to see the 2s make it though to play either Queens 2s or Bangor 3s in the final on Saturday 7th May. (Match report)
Well done lads!!
